Spread over in the magnificent area of 2.5 acres, this butterfly park is made with a vision to bring some balance back in nature. While the environment is conducive to the growth of butterflies, it helps impressionable students to understand the value of butterflies in the food chain. Over 56 species in the U.K. alone are endangered due to environmental changes and four types of butterflies have become extinct. If your surroundings don’t have moths, butterflies or spiders, it means that your habitat is beyond inhabitable, polluted and has started to deteriorate. With an initiative like this, we can ensure that the biodiversity remains intact. The butterflies and moths are symbols of a quality, healthy and green ecosystem.
Butterfly Park Effects on Environment
Delhi Butterfly Park is also known as Asola Bhatti Wild Life Sanctuary. This park is designed to provide a favourable environment for butterflies and plants. The park has more than 60 varieties of tree and 30 species of plants. More than 30 species of nectar flora are planted to attract butterflies. Most common butterfly species available in this park are Three Ring, Plain Tiger, Blue Tiger, Emigrant, White Orange Tip. Tiny Grass Blue, DaniadEggly, Blue Pansy, Pioneer, Indian Palm Bob, Red Flash and Indian Skipper. The butterflies are recorded and scientifically reared by Conversation Education Centre (CEC). CEC is the Delhi chapter of the Bombay Natural History Society and conducts regular campus counts with students to record and count butterfly species in the park. A yearly Butterfly Photograph Contest is also organised where commoners and students can click photographs of butterflies in the wild and send submissions.
A day at Butterfly Park means a day spent in the company of nature. The Bombay Natural History Society also conducts regular walks through the elevated pavement to the park, which is a brilliant way to get to know the terrain as well as experience the collective joy of spotting a butterfly.

The park is well-connected by the Delhi Metro. You can reach via Mehrauli-Badarpur Road from Tuglaqabad. You can also take Huda City Centre Metro bound to Mehrauli. Get down at Chattarpur Temple, near Tuglaqabad Fort. You can also take DTC buses or hire a private cab to reach there.
